Welcome to the Namibian Boer Goat The Namibian breeders club was established in 1969 and since 2001 the Namibian Boer Goat
Breeders Society became independant from the SA Breeders Association. It is now well structured
to deliver services such as inspection, training courses, promotion days, stud and commercial
auctions, exhibitions and national championships. The Boer Goat Breeders Society is affiliated
to the Namibian Stud Breeders Association whereby registration and generic evaluation services
are delivered by means of Breedplan, which is one of the world`s most advanced genetic evaluation
systems. NamibiaNamibia is a vast country and is situated on the south-western Altantic coast of the African
sub-continent, bordering on Angola and Zambia in the north, South Africa in the south and
Botswana in the east. Namibia derived it`s name from the Namib Desert, an unigue geological
feature renowned for the pristine and haunting quality od it`s landscape. The San hunters called
it “the land God made in anger” - an endless sea of sun-bronzed desert dunes and rocky planes
bisected by primordial mountain chains and dried-out river beds.
AgricultureThe Boer Goat is purely indigenous to Africa. Although the pioneer`s work to ennoble and
develop the SA Boer Goat were done by farmers in South Africa, breeders in Namibia also
contribute by brilliant selection and breeding to improve it to the most favoured meat goat
in the world.
